I played three times. First, I got the ending were I befriended the smokeskin, then I became a smokeskin, and finally I let the sheriff kill the smokeskin. I really enjoyed how each route added something new to the story/lore, and it encouraged me to replay multiple times. The opening was immediately engaging, and I thought the rest of the narration was immersive. I know this is still a work in progress, so I would love to see where it goes when it's finished!
I got the (unfinished) ending where Isla is turned into a shadowskin. Obviously this is still in progress, but I enjoyed what you have so far! The tense changes in the ending I got from second to first person, which stuck out to me. Obviously that part is still being edited, for immersion I recommend you keep the tense the same throughout, although I think second person was fitting for this type of story ("you are being chased" often feels more personal/anxiety inducing than "I am being chased.") I enjoyed this story and the world building, I liked the way you snuck in exposition through exploring the house, I'm excited to see more as you complete it!
My first playthrough ended with befriending the smokeskin, a mysterious creature that hunts you throughout the game. The chase was a very strong opening and I could feel the panic through the screen. I particularly enjoyed the field notes of the smokeskin and had a lot of fun finding out about the world informed by my own choices.
I was really impressed by the notably different experiences that I had between different playthroughs. I got a "good" and "bad" ending in my two playthroughs and enjoyed both experiences. I particularly liked how you conveyed the urgency of situation at the beginning with so many choices which felt like racing thoughts. The overall experience seems pretty balanced, but also a bit underdeveloped in some areas (the endings felt a little rushed, and the title is still in a placeholder state). I think commenting on the type of ending helps encourage a replay, but also seem a little clunky in the way they are currently implemented. Perhaps there is different language that conveys that information but still remains in character with the story?
I played through multiple times and got 3 endings, which I assume is all of them. I really enjoyed the twist of the monster being harmless, unless you're too sympathetic to it and be turned into one. Looking through the cabin was also really interesting, and I like how it is only implied that the man who went missing was the smokeskin, and not directly stated. The befriending ending was my favorite
i got the ending where i befriended the smokeskin! i thought it was really cool how information about the character and the world was conveyed through the choices rather than exposited to the reader. it makes me want to replay and choose different options at the beginning to know more. the first moments are probably my favorite, where you're just trying to figure out what's going on while the character is in a very tense moment, but i also found the ending i got really sweet. the only critique id make is to maybe give the player choices at the end, not to change the story path, purely to break up the wall of text. totally not necessary though. very fun game!!
i got the ending where i became a smokeskin! it was a bit unfinished but i like the idea. the worldbuilding is fun, it is a very cool creature and i was very interested in learning about it.
As I played, I felt tense--concerned for my character. Although I was curious about my character's identity, I chose to prioritize their safety above my own desire for knowledge. In the end, I reached the ending where I befriended the Smokeskin. I did not encounter any issues in my playthrough. My favorite part might be the beginning because it really captures that feeling of panic and confusion. There's so many things looming in your mind, it's overwhelming. Great game!
